A great example of 1970's design shown in this smart handy-sized table that has two folding extension leaves. 

The surface is covered in white melamine and retains its original banded edge. This all sits on gently sweeping chromed legs.

An ingenious spring system automatically extends the legs to support the leaves when they are lifted.
