Antique French Secretaire Writing Desk
 
This fine quality secretaire has a red variegated original marble top with a serpentine front.
 
The marble top sits on a curved shaped frieze, below which there is a fall-fronted compartment inlaid with floral marquetry decoration.
 
Concealed behind this fall-front is a storage area with two shelves and drawers below.
 
The entire inside has recently been veneered in birds eye maple with ebony stringing lines and ebonised drawer pulls.
 
The writing surface also benefits from a new burgundy gold embossed leather.
 
Below are three full-width drawers with serpentine fronts and inlaid with marquetry panels.
 
All the locks are fully working with a key supplied.
 
To the sides are quarter-matched walnut panels surrounded by rosewood borders.
 
The whole piece has been decorated with beautiful ormolu mounts and banding.
