French Art Deco Clock & Garniture by H Molins-Balleste & Tahou, Lourdes
This clock set is a beautiful example of high Art Deco styling, featuring a spelter figurine of a young woman kneeling with outstretched arms holding two birds.
The clock is signed on the rear of the figurine. It is difficult to read but research states H Molins-Balleste, a Spanish sculptor born in Barcelona who later moved to Paris. Some of work from the Art Deco era is signed as Molins and some is signed as Balleste.
The figurine sits on an onyx and grey marble pedestal that houses the working eight day movement.
The highly stylised numerals are set onto a gilt dial.
The clock chimes on the hour and half hour and is running well. It has been checked over and cleaned in our workshop.
The original key and pendulum are supplied, along with the matching garniture / tazzas, all in very good condition.
The movement maker is Tatou of Lourdes, South West France.
