Cast iron fire back/plate with the image of a woman with two children and baby in arms surrounded by floral motifs and an image of a bird at her feet.
 
This plate depicts Caritas (from the triptych Faith, Hope and Love - the three theological virtues).
 
There are letters and numerals at the base, which have been worn through time and are difficult to decipher.
 
Overall in very good condition with a small crack in the centre at the base but not serious (please see photo).
