French Louis XV-Transition Style Peacock Fan Shaped Fire Screen
This elegant and ornate peacock fan fire screen concertinas out from a central storage held in place by a pair of brass retaining clips / bars.
The fire screen has nine finely pierced interconnecting panels / leaves of geometric design. On opening out, four panels on each side slide within each other to produce the peacock fan design.
With a solid brass handle at the top, the elaborate central stand is identical on both the front and back, making it a stunning piece from every angle.
The piece features floral decoration throughout plus scallop shells and acanthus leaves.
Sourced from South West France, these fire screens are becoming harder to find. This one has been carefully cleaned and polished in our studio to highlight its beautiful decoration.
In very good condition, the piece is ready to displayed in front of your fireplace.
